When men suffer from depression we miss the signs

Men who suffer from depression are often not receiving appropriate help. The lack of treatment in males is very often due to the fact that, what may be common viewed as a depressed condition in women may not be classified as such in a male. With the passing of Robin Williams, from suicide, men who suffer from depression are getting more attention.

Stereotypes result in non-treatment

When we think of depression we usually think of women, and in truth, statistics do show that women suffer from depressed moods much more often than males do. The reason that more males are not diagnosed with as having a clinically depressed mood is because of the fact that it is still taboo to label a man as depressed, typically depressed men are categorized under other psychologically associated conditions. Males who are depressed are often sent to anger management therapy if it was discovered that the male patient confessed to any feelings of inner aggression.  Aggressive women are rarely sent to anger management. It is largely recognized in psychiatric circles that males get anger management and women receive treatment for the depressed mood.  When men suffer from depression we very often miss the signs because, we as a society are still not comfortable diagnosing males with clinical depression.

Beyond medications

Antidepressants can be a great help to those who are experiencing a depressed mental condition, but it is often the last step in the treatment for the depressed. Medication are a necessity for millions of people, it is antidepressants that more that 20 million people in the United States take in order to live a normal life, but, we cannot stop at medications.  It is crucial to address depression from a dual perspective; it takes 2 therapies to truly stop the illness!

Adding your own self healing therapy

It is crucial to have a second (self healing) therapy which can be utilized with or without medications; this is an added insurance against a depressed mood.

Relying solely on medications is not the best way to go. Using psychiatric drugs can be good, but, drugs do not address the root causes of the male or female depression.

There is some good news, there is a self heal therapy that is used in over 10 countries, there are no doctors, therapist or medications. The depressed person heals alone with self healing in private. It is an inside out treatment used alone by thousands to heal a depressed mood in private.
